The Company

Unravel the story of how WR Carpenter Group uses ERPNext Stock and Supply Chain, Titan, Office 365, Attache and other systems to migrate manual operations to the cloud and to help make their management smoother and meet the explosive demands of their growing businesses. 

The PNG Group consists of a number of different companies spread across a large number of industries from Car Sales at Boroko Motors – to Coffee and Tea plantations in the Highlands.

The WR Carpenter (PNG) Group has developed and operated businesses in Papua New Guinea since 1919 when WR Carpenter & Co. Limited registered in Rabaul. At that time Rabaul was the main business centre and capital of New Guinea, and had been under military occupation since 1914.
 

The principal business of WR Carpenter & Co Limited was the purchase of island produce and the selling of general merchandise.

The Group’s evolution in Papua New Guinea has diversified over this period and has variously included Plantations, Shipping, Merchandising, Insurance, Aviation, and Automotive interests and recently the Information Technology business technology sector.

 

The Problem

A lot of the business processes used by WR Carpenter Group were paper based, and software that was being used was hosted on the clients own servers. Using a paper based system introduces a large margin for error, delays with reporting and of course can you trust the accuracy of the data? 

The software applications that were being used were hosted on company computers and servers. This not only requires a large initial investment to purchase equipment, (That with the cloud would not be required), but also an IT Team to support and maintain the systems.

The Solution

By migrating away from paper based systems, and moving applications to the cloud, WR Carpenter Group no longer needs powerful, expensive computer systems for staff – and instead can use more affordable, less powerful machines – this has saved XXX in capital expenses for new equipment. 

With such a diversified portfolio and long history – migrating WRC Group to the cloud posed a number of challenges Daltron Commercial needed to solve. 

 

How were the Cloud applications deployed?

The process of implementation at Carpenter Group was tackled in a methodical way. Step by Step Daltron analysed the businesses and their processes to find the perfect cloud based solution in the following way:

Before any implementation project starts, a key stakeholder or project manager at the customer end is identified. This person is also the SPOC (Single Point of Contact) and helps coordinate with internal teams thereby keeping the change management from legacy systems hassle-free.

The scale of this implementation might have demanded onsite presence, but in some cases we also have the ability for implementation remotely.
